EBay faces criticism on its redesigned app

EBay is one of the biggest retail store chains in the United States. It has been doing a great business over the years but the company has fall behind Wal-Mart and Amazon in recent times. Despite of struggling a lot to revive its business, the company has various plans for its future. Hence the company has now planned to renew its online strategies for consumers to make future purchases. The company decided to design a new app for consumers which will help in easy shopping.
As it is believed that mobiles and tablets are two of the easiest ways in terms of navigating websites and applications, the company decided to make a newredesigned app of EBay which would help the consumers in shopping. According to the company “the mobile experience, particularly in the tablet market, is rapidly becoming the preferred way to shop globally. Over 30 percent of US shoppers and 50 percent of users globally are using phones and tablets to pick out ready to buy items instead of bidding on the e-commerce site.”
However, after looking at the newly redesigned app, the customers and the users of EBay’s app are disappointed. Furious with a redesign that they say forces shoppers to browse through products they have little interest in, eBay users have trashed the company’s redesigned iPad app over the last few days.
It is believed that the new app of the company only received an average rating of one and a half stars out of five stars with more than 2,100 reviews by the users. When compared to the previous version of the app, the new app is failing as the previous one had four stars at average. However, EBay has not commentedanything over the reviews and criticisms from the users. According to one user, it is mentioned that “[I]t’s as if the thing has been purposely designed to make it as hard as possible for a buyer to find and watch those items that really interests him, or for a seller to see the status of his various listings.”
Hence in a nutshell, people who used to shop via mobile or tablets are disappointed with the poor design of new appp.
