Burger King is best known for the great quality food starting from the best quality buns to patties and sauces, but the poor treatment of staff and poor hygiene might cost the big food retailer a lot in the coming times.

The fast food giant, Burger King announced that it will be terminating contracts ofover 89 franchises and outlets because of continued poor treatment of staff and poor hygiene. This move turned out to be effective immediately but the German franchise holder said to be operating the outlets until the foods stocks is finished. Burger King said that it was a “difficult but necessary decision was taken after Yi-Ko repeatedly failed to observe contractually fixed working conditions for its 3,000 restaurant staff. Then move affects 89 of the fast food chain's almost 700 German outlets, and 3,000 employees now face an uncertain future.”

As the local news has reported that a few franchised outlets have already been shut down. Many of the outlets had already been temporarily closed for improvements to hygiene standards and working conditions. The head of BurgerKing's German operations, Andreas Bork earlier said that “After the hygiene scandal in May there were many improvements, but since the summer there were fresh breaches of existing agreements. We are now putting an end to it with this decision. Its other 599 restaurants in Germany would continue to operate as normal.”

EBay has different plans prior to Christmas

Online shopping platform EBay has converged with its offline retail peers by opening pop up stores to offer instant shopping to beat the Christmas rush and ensure delivery before the crucial date of December 24. According to Australian news, EBay has launched its first Australian interactive store on the forecourt of Customs House, Sydney for the next four days. It is not only EBay which is planning to do this but another online shopping platform Groupon will join hands too.

Sydney Morning Herald’s journalist Carolyn Cummins reported that “Groupon has taken a short term lease of the former golf range store in Elizabeth Street to offer customers the option to buy in-store and collect instantly, or buy online and pick up at a time convenient to them.” The stores of both companies will beoffering block buster deals and more than 20 products offers of up to 70 percent off. There will be an option to increase the selection to 30 products in the lead-up to Christmas Eve.

The spokesperson of EBay Company believes that this will be beneficial for the company and it is a good initiative taken. According to EBay’s in house survey, it is believed that Sunday will be the busiest shopping day for the year, with estimates six items will be purchased online every six seconds, based on previous year sales, forward orders and eBay's own traffic trends.

According to her, “This is the future of shopping – bringing the world of online, offline, and creating a seamless shopping experience for people to browse items in the windows, then shop them directly from their mobile.”

EBay faces criticism on its redesigned app

According to the company “the mobile experience, particularly in the tablet market, is rapidly becoming the preferred way to shop globally. Over 30 percent of US shoppers and 50 percent of users globally are using phones and tablets to pick out ready to buy items instead of bidding on the e-commerce site.”

However, after looking at the newly redesigned app, the customers and the users of EBay’s app are disappointed. Furious with a redesign that they say forces shoppers to browse through products they have little interest in, eBay users have trashed the company’s redesigned iPad app over the last few days.

It is believed that the new app of the company only received an average rating of one and a half stars out of five stars with more than 2,100 reviews by the users. When compared to the previous version of the app, the new app is failing as the previous one had four stars at average. However, EBay has not commentedanything over the reviews and criticisms from the users. According to one user, it is mentioned that “[I]t’s as if the thing has been purposely designed to make it as hard as possible for a buyer to find and watch those items that really interests him, or for a seller to see the status of his various listings.”
